Alaska native makes me think I someone born in that state, not necessarily one of its indigenous people. Native Hawaiin, like Narive American, connotes a heritage that predates colonization by Europe.
Exactly…except that isn’t what Alaska native means! Oh well, this is hardly the most egregious lack of consistency ever. 🙂
